Editorial Style: Cleaning out your vintage clothes

For years collecting clothing has been a passion of mine. Not only buying clothes to wear but collecting vintage to preserve was an interest of mine until the point where I dedicated an entire room of my apartment to the collection I had curated. I knew I had a love for fashion, clothes and the construction of garments & accessories but I knew I couldn’t continue to storing my collection at the rate in which it was growing. With organizing as the core to my many interests I created a system that allowed me to continue to collect beautiful garments while helping me purge at the same time.

I began asking friends to model my vintage clothing collection as I would piece together outfits and photograph them. We created stories together, building ensembles and piecing together one of kinds and gaining these stunning photographs to add to our portfolios at the same time. Out of appreciation, I always offer a few pieces of the model’s choice from the collection for the taking, helping me purge and giving them a piece to remember the job by & of course freedom to use the photographs for their personal/professional use. For me, having the photographs & knowing I’ve preserved the memory of the garment or accessory help me pass along the clothing for another vintage lover to enjoy!

Would photographing a collection help you discard a number of items around your home or in your closet?
